Equity Policy Statement
- MCC Spirit of Cricket Summer Camps are committed to ensuring that equity is incorporated across all aspects of the programme. In doing so it acknowledges and adopts the following Sport England definition of sports equity:
Sports equity is about fairness in sport, equality of access, recognising inequalities and taking steps to address them. It is about changing the culture and structure of sport to ensure it becomes equally accessible to everyone in society. - MCC Spirit of Cricket Summer Camps respects the rights, dignity and worth of every person and will treat everyone equally within the context of their sport, regardless of age, ability, gender, race, ethnicity, religious belief, sexuality or social/economic status.
- MCC Spirit of Cricket Summer Camps are committed to everyone having the right to enjoy their sport in an environment free from threat of intimidation, harassment and abuse.
- All those involved in an MCC Spirit of Cricket Summer Camp have a responsibility to oppose discriminatory behavior and promote equality of opportunity.
- The organising bodies will deal with any incidence of discriminatory behavior seriously.
Code of Conduct for Participants
MCC Spirit of Cricket Summer Camps are fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the well-being of all involved. We believe that it is important that participants, coaches, administrators and parents associated with the camp should, at all times, show respect and understanding for the safety and welfare of others. Therefore, participants are encouraged to be open at all times and to share any concerns or complaints that they may have about any aspect of the camp with the coordinator.
As a participant of an MCC Spirit of Cricket Summer Camp, you are expected to abide by the following
- All participants must play within the Spirit of Cricket and respect officials and their decisions.
- All participants must respect the rights, dignity and worth of all others regardless of age, gender, ability, race, cultural background, religious beliefs or sexual identity.
- Participants should keep to agreed timings for the camp or inform their coach or team leader if they are going to be late.
- Participants must wear suitable kit and appropriate footwear – for coaching and competition, as agreed with the coach/team leader.
- Participants must pay camp fees in advance.
- Junior participants are not allowed to smoke on venue premises.
- Junior participants are not allowed to consume alcohol or drugs of any kind on the venue premises.
Code of practice for Parents/Carers
MCC Spirit of Cricket Summer Camps are fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the well-being of all involved. Therefore, parents/carers are encouraged to be open at all times and to share any concerns or complaints that they may have about any aspect of the camp with the coordinator.
As parent/carer of a child participating in an MCC Spirit of Cricket Summer Camp, you are expected to abide by the following:
- Encourage your child to learn the rules and play within the Spirit of Cricket.
- Discourage unfair play and arguing with officials.
- Help your child to recognise good performance, not just results.
- Never force your child to take part in sport.
- Set a good example by recognising fair play and applauding good performances of all.
- Never punish or belittle a child for losing or making mistakes.
- Publicly accept officials' judgments.
- Support your child's involvement and help them to enjoy their sport.
- Use correct and proper language at all times.
- Encourage and guide performers to accept responsibility for their own performance and behavior.
